About Us

The NIU Newman Knights live out the Order's principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. As a College Council, a strong emphasis is placed on the recruitment and active involvement of NIU students. Chartered May 24, 1964 the NIU Newman Center Knights of Columbus is the second oldest College Council in the state of Illinois.

From helping build the Newman float for the Centennial Homecoming Parade, to tailgating during Huskie football seasons, to planting trees on the Church property; the Knights have seen it all. Our Council has many great service opportunities, as well as fraternal gatherings geared for our college age brethren. Joining our College Council is a great way to meet men who live out their faith daily, and build strong bonds of fellowship to last a lifetime. In addition, the Council holds monthly delicious fish dinners, provides overnight security for "24 Hour Study" during finals weeks, and many other activities throughout the year. Whether you are newly Knighted, or an esteemed advisor amongst our ranks, the Knights of Columbus College Council 5572 holds fruitful opportunities for leadership throughout the community!
